The Hillsdale College baseball team is adding some key reinforcements to the roster as it aims for a breakthrough season in 2027.

The Chargers signed four incoming freshmen who will join the team this fall -- Jack Foley, Bennett Hartford, Jack Heffner and Brody Weiler -- as Hillsdale looks to add impact players to a strong returning veteran core.

Foley is an impressive middle infield prospect who was a coveted prep recruit in his home state of Arizona. He starred at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, leading his team to runner-up honors in the 2024 Boras Classic and helping them earn a spot in the USA Baseball National High School Invitational as well. Foley spent a post-grad year at Bridgton Academy in Maine in 2026, and comes to Hillsdale as the 341st ranked player in the country in his class, and the 14th-ranked third baseman in Arizona. He also earned All-American honors from Perfect Game in 2025, and was a preseason underclassman All-American to Perfect Game in 2023 and 2024. He also was an excellent student, graduating high school Summa Cum Laude and being named an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Hartford is a standout at first and third base who helped lead Mishawaka Penn in Northern Indiana to back-to-back IHSAA 4A sectional titles, and a 4A Semi-State appearance as a senior in 2026. A three-year varsity player for the Kingsmen, Hartford led the team in doubles and extra base hits as a senior, earning All-NIC Honorable Mention honors. A two-sport athlete, Hartford also was a key player for the Penn hockey team, earning Most Valuable Player honors. An impressive travel ball player with Canes Great Lakes and Indiana Mustangs National, Hartford also stood out in the classroom, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Penn and earning Academic All-State honors.

Heffner is a talented catcher prospect from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, north of Philadelphia. A star at eastern Pennsylvania powerhouse Malvern Prep, Heffner helped lead the Friars to three straight PAISAA state titles and multiple top 50 national high school team rankings, hitting .412 with a 1.016 OPS and 30 stolen bases. Heffner also stood out on the travel ball scene, winning three tournaments with Pennsylvania Rebels as a freshman and sophomore and also excelling for Elite National as a junior. Along with his achievements on the diamond, Heffner also stood out in the classroom, graduating with honors from Malvern Prep this past spring.

Weiler is Hillsdale's lone addition to the pitching staff among the freshmen, and a talented left-handed arm from Teays Valley High School in central Ohio, just south of Columbus. Weiler helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back OHSAA DII District Finals appearances, including a district title in 2025. In 2026, he was 6-1 with a 1.74 ERA for Teays Valley, earning honorable mention All-Ohio honors as well as first team All-League and All-District honors. A two sport athlete who also played football at Teays Valley, Weiler also excelled in travel ball with Vikings Elite, Ohio Elite, Bo Jackson Elite, and Mid-Ohio Bulletts, and was a standout in the classroom, earning Valedictorian honors in the 2026 Teays Valley graduating class as well as the Ohio Governor's Merit Scholar distinction.

The Hillsdale College baseball team enters the 2027 season looking to extend its streak of G-MAC Tournament appearances to three and contend for a league title. The Chargers will begin play with their first official contests in February.
