TUESDAY RECAP

Game 2 box score

The drama was high on a sunny day in Columbus, Ohio Tuesday, as the baseball teams from Hillsdale College and Ohio Dominican University split their GLIAC doubleheader with last-inning wins.

The Panthers used a solo, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of the opener to trip up the Chargers 6-5. Hillsdale returned the favor, using a seventh-inning triple by Nolan Breymaier to top the Panthers 4-3.

Hillsdale is now 6-4 in the GLIAC and 8-17 overall on the season. The two teams meet again for a single nine-inning game at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Columbus.

Breymaier is off to the best start of his career, and stepped up with the most clutch of hits for Hillsdale. After ODU tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Breymaier's triple scored sophomore Luke Ortel, who led off the seventh with a single, for the game-winning run.

The top two hitters in the Charger lineup - Ortel and junior Adam Ladzinski - each had two hits in the win, while Vinny Delicata had a hit and a run scored.

Freshman Ethan Wiskur pitched six innings and got his first collegiate win on the mound. Although he allowed nine hits, he gave up just three runs and was able to make key throws when they were needed the most.

Junior Dan Pochmara recorded a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh for his fourth save of the season.

In the first game, ODU took a 5-2 lead, only to see the Chargers rally to tie the game in the top of the seventh when senior Nolan Nunez, who had a two-hit game, singled up the middle, scoring freshman Jake Lee, knotting the game up at 5. But ODU cleanup hitter Anthony Raschilla hit a one-out solo home run to win it for the Panthers.

Breymaier and Ladzinski each had two hits and drove in a run in the opener for Hillsdale.
