Chargers sign two prospects to join program for 2025-26 season

Looking to the future of the program, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team added two promising prospects on National Signing Day in November.

Sydney Singh (Longview, TX/Longview) and Estie Sura (Howell, MI/Howell) will join the program next fall for the 2025-26 season, looking to help keep the Chargers among the top contenders for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference crown.

Singh was ranked in the top 50 players in her age group in the state of Texas for 2024 by tennisrecruiting.net and has been an important player for Longview High School, which competes in 6A, the highest division in the University Interscholastic League in the state. With a 36-5 overall record for the 2024 season and a 171-79 record for her career at Longview, Singh has helped the Lobos earn plenty of honors, including reaching the regional semifinals of the UIL 6A Tournament as a team.

Individually, Singh also reached the regional final round in singles play and was named the back to back winner of the East Texas Varsity Best Preps Girls Tennis Athlete of the Year award for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. She also was a standout on the USTA circuit, with several victories in singles and doubles Level 5, 6 and 7 competitions, and an excellent student at Longview, graduating in the top 1% of her class while earning membership in the National Honor Society and participating in Longview's International Baccalaureate program.

Sura, meanwhile, made history as a junior in the spring of 2024 by becoming the first girls' tennis player from Livingston County to reach the semifinal round of the MHSAA Division 1 playoffs at No. 1 singles in nearly two decades. A starter at No. 1 singles for Howell High School from her first match as a freshman, Sura has put up a 52-7 record in prep competition with two first-team All-State honors and will be among the top contenders for a MHSAA state title this spring as a senior.

Sura also was the 2024 Livingston County Tennis Player of the Year and a finalist for the 2024 Detroit Sports Tennis player of the Year, and has been active on the USTA Circuit, with 110 wins in the last three years. She's currently the eighth-ranked player in her age group in Michigan according to tennisrecruiting.net, and 38th in the Great Lakes region. Also a strong student, Sura is on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Howell and has been a member of the National Honor Society, as well as winning school awards in History, Chemistry and Anatomy.
