Box Score So far in the 2025 season, the Hillsdale College men's tennis team has enjoyed its time on the road.
The Chargers are a perfect 3-0 in road matches this spring, with the latest a dominant 7-0 victory over host Indiana Tech on Friday.
Hillsdale won all six contested singles matches, five on the court and one by default. The biggest victories came at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, as sophomore
Ellis Klanduch in the one spot and freshman
Sam Plys in the five spot each rolled to 6-0, 6-1 victories over their opponents.
Alex Cordero Lopez also made quick work of Indiana Tech's Randy Funez at No. 2 singles in a 6-3, 6-3 victory, and Hillsdale also showed its moxie and ability to fight for wins in close matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
Eddie Bergelin won not one but two tiebreaks, 7-3 and 7-4, to pull out a hard-fought 7-6, 7-6 victory over Indiana Tech's Juan Pablo Lazo at No. 3 singles. In the No. 4 singles match,
Henry Hammond played well in his first match back from injury, pulling out a 7-1 victory in a second set tiebreak to top Santiago Lazo 6-4, 7-6 and complete the singles sweep.
Along with six points in singles, Hillsdale also collected the doubles point, thanks to a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles by sophomores Hammond and Klanduch, and a default by Indiana Tech at No. 3 doubles.
The victory is Hillsdale's third straight and improves the Chargers to 4-4 overall. Hillsdale will play again tomorrow, Saturday, and put its undefeated road record to the test against the toughest competition the Chargers have faced yet, Midwest Region power and nationally ranked Wayne State, in a match at noon.
