Chargers Klanduch, Plys earn second team All-G-MAC honors

2025-26 All-G-MAC Men's Tennis Teams

Two Hillsdale College men's tennis players brought home postseason honors on Thursday, as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference teams and awards for the 2025-26 season.

Junior Ellis Klanduch was a repeat second team selection, earning the honor for the second consecutive season. Klanduch came back strong from an injury that held him out in the fall, posting an impressive 11-3 record in singles playing the No. 2 through 5 spots. The junior was also a cornerstone of Hillsdale's top doubles team, playing exclusively on the No. 1 line with partners Ryan Papazov and Henry Hammond and racking up a 9-6 record against tough competition.

He was joined on the second team by sophomore Sam Plys, who received an All-G-MAC honor for the first time in his career. Thrown into a tough spot near the top of the singles lineup for the Chargers, Plys went 7-14 in singles matches but picked up some key conference wins for Hillsdale at the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots to help the Chargers qualify for the G-MAC Tournament. Plys also was a doubles mainstay for the Chargers, playing at 1, 2 and 3 doubles and putting up a solid 11-9 record with a variety of partners.

Along with the two All-G-MAC honors, Hillsdale was the recipient of the inaugural sportsmanship award for men's tennis, voted on by all conference coaches and given to the team with the best attitude and most respect for opponents in a given year. The Chargers join Hillsdale's football team and men's and women's cross country teams in receiving the award this season.

Both Klanduch and Plys are slated to return along with the other six players on the roster for a young Hillsdale squad next season, as the Chargers look to battle their way into contention next year.
