2025 All-G-MAC Baseball Teams
The Hillsdale College baseball team had a solid 2025 campaign, making the G-MAC Tournament as the fifth seed and finishing above .500 in conference play.
Now, thanks to that strong finish, Hillsdale's players are earning some much deserved individual recognition for their play as well, as the G-MAC office announces its All-Conference squads for the 2025 season on Thursday afternoon.
Four Chargers players earned second-team All-G-MAC honors, the conference office announced – seniors
Zak Kent and
Brandon Scott, sophomore
Rocco Tenuta and freshman
Billy Porotsky. All four players are receiving All-Conference honors for the first time.
Kent was named to the second team as a designated hitter. The senior has been one of the most fearsome hitters in the G-MAC, leading Hillsdale in hits, triples, home runs, RBIs, batting average and OPS. He ranks fourth in the G-MAC in RBIs (47), tied for third in triples (4) and tied for eighth in home runs (6). It's been an especially satisfying season for Kent, who didn't get much playing time early in his career but has developed into a top player and one of Hillsdale's most important bats in the lineup. Kent's nine career triples are tied for third most in Chargers history.
Scott was named to the second team in one of the utility spots in recognition of his value as a pitcher to Hillsdale's squad. Like Kent, Scott didn't fully break through until midway through last season but this season he's been entrenched as a starter for the Chargers, with a 4-4 record, a team-leading 64 strikeouts, the 10
th most in a single season all-time in Hillsdale history, and a 4.37 ERA that leads all Chargers starters. He's 3-2 in G-MAC play with a 2.87 ERA that ranks in the top eight among all pitchers in the conference as well.
Tenuta is on a special track at third base for the Chargers, continuing to raise his game after excelling for Hillsdale as a freshman starter last season. Tenuta is a tough out at the plate, leading Hillsdale with a .427 OBP and 36 walks drawn, and is one of the team's best hitters, batting .294 with 52 hits, six doubles, five home runs, 37 RBIs, and a team-leading 42 runs scored. While it's still early in his career, Tenuta is on a trajectory to finish in Hillsdale's career top 10 in several stats if he stays healthy and continues to play at his current level.
Last, but not least, Porotsky is the representative of a special freshman class for Hillsdale that holds down four every-day spots in the lineup and one in the rotation despite its youth and lack of experience. Porotsky has been a strong defensive second baseman for the Chargers who's seen his hitting pick up steam as the year has gone on and he's adjusted to the college level. In G-MAC play, Porotsky is hitting .302 with six extra base hits, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored, strong numbers for his position.
Hillsdale and its four All-G-MAC honorees are currently playing in the G-MAC Tournament, after the Chargers advanced on Wednesday with a 12-2 win over Findlay. With a potential automatic bid to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional on the line, the Chargers are one of six teams still alive and will look to bring home their first crown since 2018.
