2025-26 NCAA DII Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars
The Hillsdale College men's golf team followed an impressive season on the course with an excellent showing in the classroom during the 2025-26 school year.
The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its annual recipients of the NCAA DII Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar award on Monday afternoon, as three Chargers -- juniors
Robert Thompson and
Oliver Marshall and sophomore
Jackson Piacsek, were among the 209 NCAA DII athletes from 77 schools to make the cut for the award.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
It's the second year in a row that Thompson has been named an All-America scholar. The junior was sensational on the course, earning Hillsdale's first All-American honor in men's golf since 1962, and finishing the 2025-26 season ranked fifth among golfers from the Midwest Region with a scoring average of 71.7. With medalist honors at the Malone-Glenmoor Invite and the Midwest Collegiate, Thompson became the first Charger to win multiple individual titles in the same season since the program restarted in 2014. He also added a runner-up finish in a third event and placed in the top 10 in eight of 10 events he played in, including both the G-MAC Championships and the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Super Regional at the end of the season.
He's joined in receiving the honor by Marshall, who had a strong campaign returning from an injury that held him out his entire sophomore season. Marshall played in all 10 events in 2025-26 for Hillsdale, with a 73.9 scoring average, and ranked in the top 50 in the region among individuals. He posted five top 15 finishes for the the Chargers, and hit a high-water mark for his collegiate career by winning individual medalist honors at the Music City Invitational in March. Marshall birdied the final hole of the 72-hole event to finish at six-under and take the title, his first-ever collegiate championship and Hillsdale's record-setting third medalist honor of the season.
Piacsek, a sophomore, also earned the award for the first time. He was another stalwart for the Hillsdale College golf team in 2025-26, playing in all 10 events as well with dependable finishes and a 74.0 scoring average. Piacsek was especially important in the spring for the Chargers, placing in the top 10 in three of Hillsdale's final five events to help the Chargers secure an NCAA Super Regional berth. Among those finishes was a tie for ninth place at the G-MAC Championships in April that led Hillsdale in that event.
Thompson finished his degree at Hillsdale in three years and is pursuing post-graduate opportunities elsewhere, but both Marshall and Piacsek will return for the Chargers in 2026-27 looking to lead Hillsdale to a third straight NCAA berth. Hillsdale will open the 2026-27 season on Sept. 14, competing in the Midwest Regional Preview at The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Michigan in a two day event.
