The Hillsdale College action shooting team is back on top after a strong performance at the Springfield Armory USPSA Collegiate Championships this past Saturday, contested at Hillsdale's own Ailes Action Shooting Range at the Halter Shooting Sports Center.
The Collegiate Championship, now in its third season, is the premier national competition in action shooting for college competitors and programs, with many of the top teams in the country in attendance.
It was a great day for the Chargers, who captured a national title in the Limited Division as a team after taking second place in 2025. Hillsdale won the inaugural Limited Division team championship in 2024, making this the second time in three seasons the Chargers have been crowned national champions in the category.
Hillsdale won the title with a team of
Joseph Beecher,
Jianna Coppola,
Clara Bozzay and
Kathryn Madden. Coppola, Bozzay and Madden stood out for the Chargers in the category, sweeping the podium among female competitors to place one, two and three in the nation for the Ladies Limited title individually.
The Chargers also finished runner-up in the nation behind Virginia Tech in the Limited Optics category, as the squad of
John Beecher,
Jonah Kirstein,
William Grohs and
John Blaney also represented Hillsdale well.
John Beecher took third in the nation as an individual in Limited Optics and third overall among all competitors, while
Kayla Mullin won the Ladies Limited Optics national title for the Chargers and
Annabelle Robbins placed third in the nation in the category.
Coming off the title, Hillsdale will be hosting another USPSA match this weekend at the Ailes Action Shooting Range, with the match set to take place on Oct. 3.
