Many of Hillsdale College's fall teams are seeing significant contributions from the freshman class. The men's golf team is no exception.
Freshmen Joel Pietila and Henry Hitt were among the top 20 overall players at this weekend's two-day Bucknell Invitational. The Chargers finished seventh as a team with a score of 600. Robert Morris won the invitational with a 574, or 14 over par, followed by Lafayette and the host school, Bucknell.
Pietila, making his first appearance for Hillsdale, shot a 146 over the two days to finish tied for 11th among all golfers at the meet. He opened play with a 71 Saturday, followed by a 75 on Sunday.
Hitt, another freshman, shot 71-76 for a two-day score of 147, tied for 16th overall.
Sophomore Logan Kauffman was third on the team with a 151 (74-77), followed by freshman Peter Benteau (157) then sophomore Steve Sartore (158).
