The Charger men's golf team made its season debut over the weekend at two different courses

Some of the squad made the short trip to nearby Jackson, at the Irish Hills Intercollegiate.

Hillsdale finished fifth at the two-day event with a team score of 626. Hope College took first, followed by Calvin, Adrian and Wayne State.

Joe Torres was the team's top performer, finishing tied for sixth overall with a two-round score of 147. He shot a 73 on Friday, then followed with a 74 on Saturday. George Roberts made his Hillsdale College golf debut by taking second on the team and 13th overall with a score of 73-82--155.

Andy Grayson posted a much-improved score in Saturday's second round, shooting a 76 after a round-one score of 87. Steve Sartore shot an 84-80--164, followed by John Burke's two-round score of 167.

The rest of the team competed at the GLIAC North Invite, which took place Saturday and Sunday at HawksHead Links in South Haven, Michigan.

The Chargers finished 10th at the conference event, finishing with a two-day score of 599. Hillsdale had a score of 300 Saturday, then carded a 299 Sunday.

Liam Purslowe shot the lowest round of the weekend for the team, shooting a 72 Saturday. He followed that up with a 74 Sunday, one of three players on the team with that score on the second day.

Peter Beneteau and Joel Pietila also shot 74s on Sunday's second round. Purslowe shot a 146 for the weekend, while Beneteau and Pietila each shot a 151. Henry Hitt went 75-77--152, while Logan Kauffman had a two-day score of 155.
