Hillsdale College's Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted the Fiocchi Chargers Classic, an NSCA-registered sporting clays shoot, from September 12-14. The event consisted of the 200-target sporting clays Fiocchi Main Event, the Pacific Sporting Arms 100 FITASC, a 100-target Preliminary sporting clays, as well as the 100-target Laporte 5-Stand event (which the team set targets for and did not shoot).
 
Starting with the Prelim, junior Luke Johnson had an incredible performance, breaking 99/100 targets and beating the field by 2 targets to win High Overall. Freshman David Texas Ardis finished with 97/100 and was the top Master Class competitor, just missing out on Runner-Up after a tiebreaker. Also winning their classes were senior Jordan Sapp (AA, 95), senior Kyle Fleck (A, 95), and sophomore Taylor Dale (B, 92). Johnson and Ardis finished as the top two juniors with senior Davis Hay (94) finishing 3^rd. Junior Madeline Corbin (93) was high Lady and Dale was runner-up.
 
Ardis was the Chargers' highest finisher in FITASC with a score of 90/100 which earned him Runner-Up overall. Freshman Zach Hinze won A Class after breaking 84 targets and junior Alex Hoffman's 80 was the top score in B Class. Ardis and Hinze were 1^st and 3^rd respectively in the Junior concurrent while Corbin and junior Ava Downs were 1^st and 2^nd Lady.
 
In the Main Event, Hay took 2^nd in AA Class and 3^rd Junior with 176/200 targets broken. Johnson and Corbin finished 2^nd and 3^rd in A Class respectively after a tiebreaker at 173/200. Corbin was also high Lady. Hoffman earned 1^st in B Class (168), Downs 2^nd Lady (161), sophomore Marin McKinney 3^rd Lady (159), and Ardis 2^nd in Junior with a team-high score of 177.
 
"Everyone on the team shot well in at least one event," said head coach Jordan Hintz. "Our freshman are excelling and our returners are continuing to show improvement. I'm excited to see the places that this group can go."
 
Full results for the team are listed below. The Chargers next travel to Marengo, OH to compete in the ACUI/SCTP Upper Midwest Conference Championship at the Cardinal Center. They shoot from October 3-5.
